FedBeton, the Federation for Ready- mixed Concrete, represents the industry’s enterprises producing, transporting and pumping ready- mixed concrete. The ready-mixed concrete sector in Belgium comprises around 270 concrete plants for nearly 160 companies. It produces approximately 12 million cubic meters of concrete per year: 1.13 m³ ready- mixed concrete per inhabitant, consuming more than 55% of the cement marketed in Belgium. The industry employs more than 4,000 people. More than 2,200 concrete mixers and approximately 300 concrete pumps supply the 215,000 construction workers who install ready-mixed concrete in Belgium every day.
Director FEDBETON, Peter De Vylder is clear: “Innovation is becoming increasingly important in our sector.
There is a new dynamic. Our members – whether they are producers of ready- mixed concrete, concrete mixer and concrete pump rental companies, independent concrete mixer drivers, or concrete pump operators – are now all seen as service providers in the construction industry. This is not a bad evolution per se, it just requires a different approach. Technology is a crucial link in order to be able to offer an efficient service.”

Peter De Vylder continues enthusiastically: “Suivo can also equip concrete mixers with a wireless sensor that communicates with a black box in the vehicle via radio. The sensor automatically registers the movements of the concrete mixer and sends the status (start unloading – end unloading) to the Suivo Platform. This means dispatching can estimate the time of departure for the next vehicle perfectly.” And last but not least: “Because they have been active in the construction sector for years, Suivo also offers definitive answers to current questions, such as legislation concerning online attendance registration (Checkinatwork).
